6 Basic Camera Movements

For an effective and better understanding of shots, let us make a quick discussion on the basic camera movements.
  1. Pan - camera movement wherein the camera stays in one place but swivels horizontally. Pan left, Pan right
  2. Tilt - camera movement wherein the camera stays in one place but swivels vertically. Tilt up, Tilt down
  3. Zoom - camera movement wherein the camera stays in one place but the lens makes the subject look closer or farther. Zoom in, Zoom out
  4. Track - like a pan, but this one, both the camera and cameraman move from one place to another, moving side-to-side.
  5. Crane - like a tilt, but this one, both the camera and cameraman move from either a lower plane to a higher one, or vice versa.
  6. Dolly - like a zoom, making the appearance of the subject on video closer or farther, but both the camera and cameraman moves. Dolly in, Dolly out
